Earth Day 2016

Happy Earth Day 2016! Today is the day we remind ourselves to be kind to our planet, not just for ourselves, but for future generations.

Take a moment today to evaluate how you are helping our planet in your daily life. Are there ways you can use less water throughout your home? Are there lights on in rooms which are empty? How can we all save energy, water, and reduce our carbon footprint. Can you walk to the post office instead of drive? Can you reuse a plastic bottle instead of throwing it away?

We are always looking for ways to reduce, reuse, and recycle in our home. I know I need to do better when it comes to my plastic bottle usage. I would also love to find out more ways to conserve water; especially since El Nino is over, and La Nina is approaching! Yikes!

If you would like some ideas about how you can help on Earth Day, please visit EarthDay.org.

If you are feeling charitable, please take a moment to look at my favorite environmental charity, The League to Save Lake Tahoe, also know as “Keep Tahoe Blue.” You can find them online at KeepTahoeBlue.org

Since this is a fashion, style, and beauty blog, I thought I would share a few fabulous products with you which use recycled parts to make them beautiful. I hope you love them!

What are some ways you are helping our planet today? Please share your activities and ideas in the comments below!

Thank you for stopping by,

XOXO

Cathy

August is always a limbo month between summer and fall. While the weather remains hot, the clothing on store shelves suggests a cool climate where seeking cozy fabrics and textures is a must. So, while summer attire begins to look “oh so last season,” fall attire, which is fresh and inviting, is simply not practical in hot August weather!

Here in the San Francisco Bay Area, we enjoy an “Indian Summer” which is defined as summer weather that continues into mid-fall; usually the middle of October. So, when I shop for fall clothing, I always look for transitional pieces since our climate is anything but fall-like!

Calypso St. Barth has a fabulous fall 2014 collection which includes so many pieces perfect for transitioning from hot summer weather to more moderate, or cool autumn temperatures. In addition, many of the pieces are tailored for warmer climates which allows the clothing to look like fall, yet offer the comfort and coolness of summer attire. Love that!

I found this fabulous short sleeve sweater at Calypso St. Barth at the Stanford Shopping Center in Palo Alto during a blogger brunch held at the shop. The sweater is perfect for transitioning into the fall season here in the San Francisco Bay Area; as well as in many other climate’s! Since we have fog in the morning, allowing temperatures to hover around 60 degrees until the sun shines through, a short sleeve sweater, which can easily be taken off when the fog burns off, is ideal. I love this sweater since it keeps me warm while the fog is in, and then is easy to remove when the fog burns off. Love that!
